The Ames hotel, developed in a 19th-century building considered to be Boston’s first skyscraper, will open [November] 19.

After an influx of upscale properties in the city, the Ames is the last new hotel scheduled to open in the foreseeable future.

Built by the Ames family as the headquarters for its tool company, the 14-story, 113-room boutique hotel at 1 Court St. will retain several original features, including marble tile floors in its restaurant and a mosaic barrel-vaulted ceiling in the entryway, shown here.

Rooms at the Ames, Boston’s first Morgans Hotel Group property, are equipped with gas fireplaces and marble showers and start at about $350 a night.

A look at the front-desk area of the hotel. The hotel is being billed as having a “Ben Franklin meets supermodel” vibe.

Steps appear behind hidden behind transparent shelves. The hotel also will include unusual touches such as chandeliers that appear to float behind hallway mirrors.
