How to Make It in [Sweden]

Bryan Greenberg and Victor Rasuk, otherwise known as Ben Epstein and Cam Calderon of HBO’s How to Make It in America, stopped by WeSC‘s United States headquarters last week, and we can only guess dudes were there to pitch the latest installment of the show to be based in The Superlative Conspiracy’s native land. Just think: hot Nordic model-types all over the place, smörgåsbords a-plenty, death metal… shit, if we’re wrong, we’re about to pitch a show like this ourselves – what’s up, KarmaloopTV?

Peep Greenberg in WeSC’s New Era (we’ll forgive Rasuk for showing Pinstripe love… this time…)!

Don’t forget! Your submitions for the WeSC x Karmaloop t-shirt design contest are due no later than this Wednesday, April 28th – that gives all of you procrastinators less than two days to get your shit together and have your work featured on Karmaloop.com… and how does a $500 shopping spree sound?

Who is the Superlative Conspiracy? [Wi:, Es, Si]

Founded by six avid skateboarders and snowboarders in Stockholm, Sweden, circa 1999 and currently established in nineteen countries, WeSC is not merely a brand within the streetwear industry, but a company that now defines the streetwear industry.

Through addressing people with awareness – no matter the race, religion or financial background – that each and all share the values and lifestyle of the brand’s founders, WeSC delivers “life after skate” fashion… that is,  a more developed style targeting people outside the skateboard community while holding its core values. Skaters never die, but, shit, we do get older.

Each WeSC drop includes a Swedish Chef-sized smorgasbord of garments, and not like other fashion companies, WeSC is unpredictable and does not follow trends. Trust us on this one. Furthermore hosting an array of “WeActivists” made up of artsists, musicians, skateboarders, snowboarders, visionaries, and men and women that simply define the near future, this is one brand that you should not so much as look out for – but rather, know that they are looking out for you.

As you can tell by the site, WeSC takeover week is in full-motherfucking-effect and we’re going to give you all that you need to know about the brand in the coming days. For now, check out some killer video from two of the Blogs’ heroes, skateboarder Chris Pastras and street artist Stash, as well as a beeeaaautiful serenade courtesy of  Peter Stormare and Jason Lee to ride y’all doggies into the sunset.

Eriberto Oriol x Altamont: Cut From a Different Cloth

altamontbanner

Check out the latest installments to the Altamont Cut From a Different Cloth video series featuring legendary street photographer Erberto Oriol, filmed and directed by his son, Estevanyou might have heard of him.

Every season, Altamont brings together a diverse group of what they lovingly call “creative outcasts” – skateboarders, musicians, artists and designers bent on pushing the envelope of innovation. Otherwise known as folks who make a living doing what they love most, they are, like Altamont, cut from a different cloth. Frequently inviting their direct contributions to the Altamont collection, the goal is to inspire you to pursue whatever it is that you love, and perhaps take it upon yourself to put a pen to paper, paint to a wall, shred a backyard pool, start a band… whatever. Making your own contribution is what it’s all about.

For the Fall/Winter ’09 drop, Altamont invited Eriberto Oriol to collaborate on a set of tees that had been met with a stunning response – to a degree that they sold out damn near a week after we put them on the site (… but you might be able to find a few here. Shhh…). Check out the video below and go behind the scenes with Eriberto and Altamont to see the making of the tees and hear the inspiration behind each in the man’s own words.

New York City – Soundtrack for a Revolution Opens this Friday!

2

3

Soundtrack for a Revolution, a new documentary directed by Bill Guttentag and Dan Sturman, opens this Friday, January 22nd, at the Brooklyn Academy of Music‘s Rose Cinema.

Featuring music from the Roots, Anthony Hamilton with Blind Boys of Alabama, Wyclef Jean, John Legend and many others, Soundtrack for a Revolution tells the story of the American civil rights movement through powerful music – the freedom songs protesters sang on picket lines, in mass meetings, in police wagons and in jail cells as they fought for justice and equality. The film features new performances of the freedom songs by top artists, and shows riveting archival footage and interviews with civil rights foot soldiers and leaders, including Congressman John Lewis, Harry Belafonte, Julian Bond and Ambassador Andrew Young.

The freedom songs evolved from slave chants, from the labor movement, and especially from the black church.  The music enabled blacks to sing words they could not say, and it was crucial in helping the protesters as they faced down brutal aggression with dignity and non-violence.  The infectious energy of the songs swept people up and empowered them to fight for their rights.

Soundtrack for a Revolution celebrates the vitality of this music, and with a vibrant blend of heart-wrenching interviews, dramatic images, and thrilling contemporary performances, this is truly a film of significance, energy and power.

We’ll see you there!

T.I.T.S. x TERA PATRICK – Luxury Model

Please believe us, it’s our pleasure.

Ladies and gentlemen… Miss Tera Patrick.

TITS Brand is proud to announce the completion of the collaborative project with Iron Cross Entertainment featuring adult film star Tera Patrick, a series that will showcase her on two tees including The Luxury Model Tee and The Tera Wifey Tee. The first of the TERA x TITS series will be available on www.shoptits.com this Friday, November 27th before bouncing on over to Karmaloop shortly thereafter.

“This is going to be bananas, the first official series with Tera Patrick on a tee,” says ex- Biohazard bassist and vocalist Evan Seinfeld, now business partner with Teravision. “There are so many bootlegs out there, but those pirates can get to the back of the line. TITS Brand celebrates smokin’ hot ladies with great tits and Tera’s are the most famous out there. TITS fans around the world will have the opportunity to rock this iconic pair of the number one adult film starlet in the world on Black Friday, not to mention this will be the first ever porn star tee shirt available at finer [retailers] around the country.”

Other brands have featured Tera Patrick on shirt designs but what makes this project unique is that TITS Brand is the first clothing line to not only launch a “series” with Tera, but to also work directly with Tera and her production team on each stage of the design process. Everything from the original concepts, photo shoot and designs were a collaborative effort to ensure the success of the project, with photos shot by Seinfeld of Teravision and directed by TITS owner Marek Grubel.

“The TERA x TITS series made sense for us and one thing we wanted to do is get our customers involved by having them vote on their top choice for which design we decided to use for the first shirt,” noted Grubel, owner and founder of TITS. “This strategy has worked well for us and we plan to do this for more designs in the near future.”

To get the fans of Tera and TITS even more involved there will be many giveaways and launch parties coming including a huge bash during Adult Entertainment Expo. The tees will also be available on www.terapatrick.com, and be sure to look for more collaborations coming from TITS and Iron Cross Entertainment soon.
