Following last month’s Urbanears hype, The Tanto and The Plattan models are now available at Karmaloop in more colorways than a Crayola box.
The sleek Scandinavian collective at Urbanears goes beyond superior sound quality and promotes a deeper connection to color, form and personality while allowing the freedom to transcend individuality and unify the sound experience (thanks, press release!). With an already solid reputation in functionality, Urbanears takes pride in creating headphones that fit everyday life, providing an ideal listening device for anyone with a cache of solid tunes and the desire to make (and hear) the most of them.
Go to the jump to check out some flicks and learn more about Urbanears’ two distinct Tanto and Plattan models as well as the sizes, styles, designs and functions that further enhance what many of us hold so dear – our music.
(Urbanears)
The Plattan (above):
Designed to be “the perfect classic headphone,” according to the folks at Urbanears, The Plattan combines innovative functions and performace with today’s technology. A full-size headphone that allows full, rich, secluded and ridiculously clear volume, sound and thumping bass (112dB, 20kHz). The Plattan furthermore folds down to the size of a fist for maximum mobility and convenience. Featuring Urbanears’ patented Zound Plug (see the specs below), invite a pal to plug in and thrash along to your Municipal Waste playlist.
The Tanto (below):
Also designed with mobility and convenience in mind, The Tanto’s size absolutely does not compromise when it comes down to performance. A tribute to the 1980′s aesthetic and revolution in mobile music, this tough lil’ fucker is ready for everyday use and wants to tag along everywhere you go – like herpes, but sexier.
Some dig the minimalist style to the Urbanears pieces, but the innovations are where it’s at with these cats: iPod/Blackberry compatible mics on each model, bold colorways and nothing over $60 – huge upgrade if you’re still using standard iPod headphones (don’t even get us started – we pity the ears that are subjected to those motherfuckers).
Specifications:
Zound Plug:
Like bottles of whiskey, blunts and girlfriends, music is best when shared. The Zound Plug is not a plug, but rather a socket that allows your friend to plug into your earcap and listen to the same thing as you are listening to… if they dare.
Plug Extensions:
Both models come with two two additional cable extensions – we all know that there is no standard out there anymore. The default plug is a two-way construction that works with a majority of all devices, while the four contact point extension is specifically designed for Nokia devices allowing for you to fully utilize the microphone and remote. The remote other extension is a neautral stereo plug that is preferable with sources such as stereos, computers, music players and other one-way communication devices. The standard plug is fully functional without the neutral extension in many cases, but older products may read information differently – this extension is for those situations. All said, Urbanears has you covered whether your up on your music technology or still rockin’ the Walkman.

“… they sort of develop a taste for blood.”
New York bosses Mighty Healthy just dropped a grip of new tees at Karmaloop featuring the good ol’ bold, brash, killer graphics we’ve become accustomed to from these cats – and stay tuned throughout the weekend for the release of some killer buttondowns, hoodies, hats, and an extra special surprise come Monday mornin’…

Square Times indeed down there in the biggest damned tourist trap on earth. Our parents regale us with tales of horror, dread, debauchery and balls-to-the-wall fun from New York’s 1970′s heyday centered in The Square, we’ve read all about it in Please Kill Me and The Bronx is Burning, and some of our absolute favorite flicks are based there – Taxi Driver, Mean Streets, and the list goes on (with lots of DeNiro and Keitel appearances). At least our parents can relive past glories when they wake us up off of the front lawn while we’re wearing The Square Times Tee, stained with last night’s booze, blood and regrets.
Speaking of flicks, The Mother Tee takes one of our favorite moments from Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood – and not only immortalizes that shit, but highlights what we think every time we pass some poorly-dressed sucker on our way to the office, see Kanye West on TV or catch a glance of ourselves in the mirror… um, wait, what..?

Velvet Jones! Velvet fuckin’ Jones! If you don’t know who the god is, then you’re copping your blackmarket goods from the wrong man, sucka! It looks like our dude Velvet and the Mightys have started a joint business venture to help all of you untalented, unaspiring musicians make it big. Join the Autotone Academy and sound like a star (or art least look like one, rocking The Autotune Tee).
Click the banner below to get a look at the rest of the pre-weekened tee drop, and stay tuned for next week when Mighty Healthy- whoops, almost spoiled the secret…

Who doesn’t like a nice set of TITS?
Here at The ‘Loop, we’ve got more than a handful to show off after the Two in the Shirt crew bounced it’s new fall line over to the site, featuring the perky, flawless and voluptuous designs we all just can’t get enough of.

Pfffffft. Fuck American Apparel and the douchebag, scenster clowns that it caters to – we’re co-signing TITS’ vision for an Appareless America! Actually… that would mean no more Karmaloop, no more Two in the Shirt… how about a country without American Apparel? Yeah, much better (as long as their women-folk come model for us). Like a great, big bag of sand, we gotta hand it to our dudes on this print for The Appareless America Tee. The gray scale print is killin’ it, the model is a dime, crafty wordplay earns bonus points, and… fuck, have we mentioned the model yet!? She’s almost as fine as the 10-spot on the… wait, what the fuck?!
“Cakes?” Nah… it can’t be…
Is the TITS crew aligning it’s allegiance with ass and abandoning areola-adoration for all time? *
Nope. Not at all. But we welcome the quick departure with open arms, quite literally. The Cakes Tee, presenting an entirely new meaning for “hotcakes” while dissing any thought of “flapjacks,” features not only our absolute favorite meal for any time of the day, but an perfect slab of pure butter on top as well. Heart Attack? Yes, please, and not soon enough.
* Our intern bet us that we couldn’t use five words beginning with an “a” in one sentence without sounding like a mysteriously-innebriated, run-on Kanye West apology… pay up, sucka.

She had us reeling from a quick knockout last season, and now she’s back for another swing or two finding us more than happy to go another round. With a style impetuous and by far the sexiest Mike Tyson impersonator the world has ever known, The Round 2 Tee might just be our champion pick for the TITS fall line, and she’s got the belt to prove it. We’re hoping we can kindly remove it from her waist, as the burden of reigning champ is a heavy one to carry and we don’t want the poor thing all worn-out.
Journalism majors we are, math was never our strong suit… then again, we never had a tutor like this. The Do the Math Tee proves that Leonardo Da Vinci was full of shit – you want a real ratio of divine proportion? TITS gets it right here, and it’s with precise math that we don’t even have to double check (we still did, long-hand notes and e’rything).
Two in the Shirt hit us with a drop that’s absolutely honkers- er, we mean, bonkers, and this blog hasn’t even hit the nip tip of the iceberg. Be sure to click the banner below to get a better glare at the bountiful TITS drop – don’t worry, no one’s watching. But for now…
… it’s time to get gratuitous. Happy Monday!

Much respect to Marek and the TITS crew for sending over the glorious flicks – must be hell to work in that office. Stay tuned for some surprise guest photoshoots with Two in the Shirt in the near future… we’re god-awful at keeping secrets and it pains us more than anything not to let ‘em slip – but trust us, it will be worth it.

Karmaloop is hosting another Hub-town throwdown, and if you’re still alive and remember the holiday jam from last year, this will be another epic not to be missed!
Golden Nuggets features a special guest appearnce from ITF, Vestax and DMC World DJ Champion A-Trak, who will be taking a break from backing Kanye West’s live performances to get down with us for one night only. Joining A-Trak in front of the decks will be Chicago’s own Murder Club moped rider Hollywood Holt with DJ Mano and Bodymore, Murderland’s own B. Rich.
The madness comes to fruition the night of St. Patrick’s Day, a perfect way to top-off Boston’s unoffical city-wide holiday. Hosting again this year is Estate, one of Boston’s premier venues located in the infamous Alley at One Boylston, capable of holding three floors worth of us maniacs.
Always recession-sensitive here at The ‘Loop, tickets are just $10 and can be purchased at www.wanttickets.com. Don’t sleep! Last year’s turnout brought Karmaloop friends and family from across the globe, so make sure you get in before you’re left out.
Check out music from A-Trak, Hollywood Holt, Mano and B. Rich if you don’t already know, and show up on the 17th displaying your love for Boston with these classic tees!

We just took a quick glance at the top 10 on the Billboard 200 for this week, only to find that the sole representative for hip hop is Kanye West with his vocoder-heavy, nearly rap-free record, 808s and Heartbreak at #8 (T.I.’s Paper Trail is resting in solitary [oops] at #12).
The hell is going on? Is hip hop dying? Is it already dead? Or are the hottest artists just hiding beneath the radar?
We miss that Golden Age of hip hop, the mid-80′s to mid-90′s days when artists took chances, made an art of sampling, spoke freely and authoritatively without fear of public backlash and more than anything, RAPPED. If something sounded like Auto-Tune, you know it was probably a Zapp sample. All those sounds that would have been perfect for a ringtone? Actual keyboards, damnit, either sampled or played live in the studio.
Whatever the case, it looks like some of our favorite vendors out there are feeling the same way. Karmaloop has three tees for the Golden Age Hip Hop Head out there, including RockSmith’s ATLiens Tee, the Tricknology Tee by Alphanumeric, and a more abstract reference to rap’s glory days, the Do As De La Does – No Swine! Tee from Sons Of Liberty.
Atlanta representers OutKast put the south on the map (sorry, 2 Live Crew) with Andre3000 and Big Boi’s debut, Southernplayalisticcadillacmuzik, before coming right back two years later to completely space the rap world out with ATLiens, featuring the single “Elevators (Me & You).” The ATLiens Tee takes reference from that single’s chorus, and Karmaloop brings back an old winner because 2009 gon’ be that year that all y’all playa haters can bite us… around this bitch…
Where is the Prophet when we need him most? Karmaloop teams with Alphanumeric to bring you the Tricknology Tee, in memory of Jeru the Damaja’s classic banger “Revenge of the Prophet” from Wrath of the Math. As you can see, Tricknology is up to his old games of mind control, so take a tongue-in-cheek stab back at the bastard and let the herb know you think for your own damn self.
Finally, new Sons Of Liberty joint, the Do As De La Does – No Swine! Tee cites the vintage video for De La Soul’s “Breakadawn” joint from Buhloone Mindstate which features Pos rocking this tee back in ’93.
Rocksmith has come to the plate swinging with some more tees that touch on the Golden Era, all of which can be seen here, and definitely check out the rest of Alphanumeric and Sons Of Liberty for more forward-thinking, original future classics.
