We Love Designer Drugs

DesignerDrugs

Next Thursday, November 19th, FutureClassic and Karmaloop present Designer Drugs, a night of madness, mayhem, debauchery and… um, well, maybe some drugs. We think. We can, however, guarantee a gang of gloriously loud music provided by New York City’s electro-house party kings DJ Voltron and the one and only JELLZ providing live video. It all goes down at The Ivy Restaurant and Lounge (49 Temple Place, Downtown Crossing, Boston), and doors open at 10:30 p.m. – but get there mad early.

The life experience afforded by being of legal drinking age with a petty, recession-friendly $10 gets you in it to win it – click the image above for details, tickets, and the satisfaction of opening a brand new, pretty window.

RA the Rugged Man, AG & OC of D.I.T.C. and the debut of…

Zombie Death Squad, featuring Karmaloop‘s own Ricky Mortis, Lateb of Heddshotts and legendary, local MC Amadeus the Stampede!

zds

It all goes down just minutes from the witching hour on Halloween night at Harper’s Ferry, 158 Brighton Avenue in Boston’s ville of Allston Rock Rap City. Featuring supporting acts Heddshotts, Mic Monarchy, DJ On & ON’s Golden Brown Sound and Virtue, Z.D.S. will rise from the dead to get it ready for New York underground legends AG and OC of the incomparable Diggin’ in the Crates crew before the greeziest, grimiest, brokest rapper you know, RA the Rugged Man, shuts it all down and leaves with your date. Tickets are just $15 for a night of horror, mayhem, madness and real hip hop, and trust us, this is not a show to be missed.

Behold… beware… find us there… if you dare…

THE MACKROSOFT

waxpoetics

Founded in the year 2000 as an independent record label and multimedia entertainment company, The Mackrosoft specializes in hybrids of funk, fusion, soul, jazz and electronic music, receiving big props and much respect from fans, peers and critics alike. Since it’s inception back at the beginning of the millennium, Mackrosoft has seen a steady flow of unique artwork and intelligent music released through it’s label and show no signs of slowing down.

Each album is a smorgasbord of styles, influences, instruments and sounds – in fact, there’s really no way to describe it, other than to say “just fuckin’ listen to it, dude.” Surprises are tucked around every hard left turn the Brothers Mackrosoft drive us through, with no dead-ends or dividing lines blocking their journey. To put it simply – it’s pure madness.

Click the image above to hear The Mackrosoft at work, though it might take a month to get through it all – does The Mackrosoft sleep?!

… probably not. Check that shit out.

A Karmaloop x RockSmith x Super Viral Brothers Joint

loopxrsmixtape

The Antidote:

One part wonderfully demented producer;

One part beautifully sickening vocalist;

Equal parts aurally-pleasing, mind-bending sounds of Iggy and the Stooges and Crookers, Aphex Twin and Justice, Raymond Scott and Marcel Duchamp, Throbbing Gristle and Karlheinz Stockhausen, Zapp and Roger Troutman, Fela Kuti and assorted fresh sounds (preferably chopped, not diced).

Combine all parts in blender, mix on puree. Pour solution from blender into pot and boil. Remove from heat and and let chill. Draw cooled solution into syringe and inject into ears.

… wait, STOP! That’s not the antidote, that’s the sickness!

Too late? Okay, you’ll be alright. Besides, with sounds this sick who wants to be healthy? The trip you’re about to fuck with is 37 minutes of pure madness produced by Anthony Mills and Olle Cornéer, otherwise known as the Super Viral Brothers. Click the album cover above to give the mixtape a listen and download that shit immediately.

What’s more, these crazy Swedes went and made one of the craziest, most fucked-up music videos we’ve ever seen for the single Hot Chocolate + Polar Bear Rug. For real, we haven’t been this tweaked out since we watched Eraserhead in a hot tub tripping balls with GG Allin back in junior high. Click the image below to check it out (and don’t count on eating lunch today):

Fashionably Late(r) [While You Were Still Sleeping]

FL27

As promised before the weekend, here’s a grip of flicks from Karmaloop’s Fashionably Late runway show last Thursday night at Boston’s Liberty Hotel. Over 3,000 heads RSVP’d for the event with a 500-person capacity, but we managed to sneak a bunch of you through the doors to share in the madness.

The ballerinas absolutely stole the show, and we all had a blast hanging out with each other and our vendors – can’t wait for the next jam!

A big arigato gozaimasu to Karmaloop’s Mari Nishimura for the photos, a “werdups!” to all the vendors and friends who came out, and an extra-special thanks again to Boston Ballet’s finest for helping us get down! Stay tuned for updates, pictures are still flowing in by the hour.

While You Were Sleeping…

The Liberty Hotel graciously hosted our Fashionably Late runway show, featuring members of the Boston Ballet outfitted in streetwear by Karmaloop. This was, by far, one of the wildest nights in Karmaloop history (and that’s sayin’ some shit…) with nearly an entire hotel at our disposal, hosting the entire ‘Loop family with many of our favorite brands. While there are plenty of memories from the night (most of which were rehashed this afternoon through a haze of hangovers), our gorgeous ballerina models absolutely stole the show, leaving our guests awed and redefining the standards of streetwear.

Enough talk – check out some of the flicks from the runway show and backstage, and stay tuned for shots of the ensuing rager madness on Monday.

Sabre All Loc’d Up

If we’ve said it once, we’ve said it… well, at least twice: sunglasses are CRUCIAL throughout the summer months. However, if you’re planning on going with those cheap, $5.00 joints down at the 7-11, you might as well walk around with hand-visors held above your face to look a little less ridiculous.

111sabre-madness33

Luckily for all of us, Sabre is here to keep our vision clear and make us look fresh as fuck while doing so. Making the big move from the Kazbah page to top-billing on the main site, Sabre celebrates the occasion with a summer drop so bright you’ll need a set of these just to check the page out. The Madness models (above) shine in four innovative looks, two of those with  interchangeable arms (black & white and red & black striped; teal and white), with the others featuring solid black and clear frames and an ill tortoise shell colorway. Madness, indeed.

sabre-poolside22222

Staff favorites The Poolside Revo bring it back to the ’80′s Ray Ban Wayfarer look, with a 2009 update making the frames thinner and lighter. Paired with the reflective rainbow lens and logo embossing on the frames, don’t be shocked when people stop you in the street screaming “YOU be there!” Available in black, white or with a clear frame and green lenses, Sabre’s got you covered no matter what else is covering you.

sabre-sunday12sabre-sunday22

Going for the modern-classic look, Sabre’s The Sunday Sunglasses have that classic summer look typically reserved for tanks and boardshorts. In both black and white with smoke lenses, we can only assume that the “V” on the frames stands for “victory,” because these shades are winners.

Check out the rest of the brand-new Sabre drop at Karmaloop here.
